I went out to hang out with a couple local teacher friends this past week and got a bit of a shock. As it turns out, there's an opening at a local school that one of our friends teaches at. The hours are really good, and things really sounded good. It was all I could think about last Friday as I sat through an endless kinder day.

Friday morning, I met with Choi to discuss next year as well. He didn't offer me anything different and one moment would promise me one thing, and the next say that nothing was gaurenteed. Excuse me if I need something a little more concrete. I basically told him upfront that I was considering another school in the area that had the same salary, MANY less hours and NO extra crap that I am just expected to do now. He wasn't happy. He went so far as to use the word traitor. Too bad. I guess it's just me looking out for my own well being and sanity, rather than really caring whether the parents in the neighborhood still see me or not. It's not like I'm leaving early. I'm still finishing my contract out.

After work, I went over to talk to the bosses at the other school as well. They were very nice, and yes, everything was exactly as Peter had said it was. I talked to them for around 45min. and asked a lot of questions. They are willing to give me the same salary as I have now, 100% medical (I only get 50% now), no Saturdays, no phone teaching, a single apartment....and they are willing to help me move my overwhelming amount of crap and store it in their apartment while I'm in the States in March. It's now Monday and I'm planning on going over there again today to kind of finalize things. I'm looking forward to finishing here at EF. It'll be nice to have a fresh start.
